Autism. I can recognize.

Delayed speech development. Repetitive movements. No eye contact. Narrow interests. Difficulties in recognizing emotions. Compulsive stacking of objects. Reluctance to hug. No desire to play with other children. Isolating yourself from the surroundings. Hypersensitivity to touch, sound, taste or smell. No response to messages or name.

These are just a few of the long list of autism symptoms currently affecting already 1 child in 100.

In 2008, the UN announced that autism - next to cancer, diabetes and HIV - was among the most serious health problems of the modern world. It is estimated that the number of children affected by it already exceeds 30,000 in Poland.
The good news is that early diagnosis of this disorder, and consequently timely treatment, gives the person affected a better life and fuller life in society.

There is also bad news: public awareness of the causes, symptoms, treatment options and help for the youngest affected by this problem is so low that diagnosis of the problem often comes too late.
That is why it is so important to the first diagnosing person was the parent - aware of the first signs of autism and what he should pay special attention to.

The PROMITIS Foundation has been educating, providing comprehensive and professional help for children suffering from autism and Asperger Syndrome and their parents for 10 years. In 2017, over 10,000 employees of schools, kindergartens and nurseries took part in our free trainings on recognizing holistic development disorders. Thousands of parents have benefited from our free psychological consultations last year.

The goal of the "Autism - I can recognize" campaign is to educate parents of nursery and kindergarten children about the first signs of autism and to spread knowledge about the importance of early diagnosis for the further development of the child and its subsequent functioning.
