The theater of most people is associated with school trips "on reading". In a word, the association is simple - NUDA. Rarely, who had contact with the theater in childhood or went to the theater with their parents, being a child or teenager. This is our generation. How is today Has the lack of theater in our upbringing influenced who and what we are today? Do we need theater at all (since we grew up without it)?

Theater for beginners

To answer the above questions, we must first be aware of WHAT IS THEATER actually? The theater is not only a building adapted for stage performances with actors, technical support and numerous seating for the audience. Following this definition, Cinema, Circus and Opera can also be defined in a similar way. But not only. The school, the church and our own home also fit this description. Well, theater is nothing more than contact between the actor and the viewer. If we explain to a child, for example, the action of a toy, then we "play" the role of a teacher, so we become actors. The child is our viewer. Our child playing with teddy bears, dolls at home, doctor, bus also "incorporates" toys and themselves into specific roles. In a word - playing in the theater.

Theater translates life

Theater accompanies almost every moment of our lives. Often, however, we do not realize this, and we do not know the great value that it can bring to the development of our child. And I do not mean here only the development of imagination by even playing the roles of princesses, frogs or other characters from fairy tales. Theater in this sense can play a huge role in the development of emotionality and dealing with e.g. nerves. We can explain a lot to a child from the "adult world" by playing theater. If the family is affected by a serious problem, whether health or financial, or perhaps the breakup of the family or the death of a loved one - we can explain what is happening, why, what results, how to live now by playing with the child. I do not urge you to kill your favorite Bear or that the doll should have an accident. However, trying to explain to the child the change that occurs in life, we can translate it into the children's world. Let's try to sit down, take the baby's toys and try to "talk" with each other.

For a child, it will be a role-play that was invented by Mom or Dad, which will eventually subconsciously acquaint the child with a change in life, bring her into the child's life and world in a friendly way. Contrary to appearances, this way you can explain to your child any changes that occur in life.

I remember counseling one mother of a preschooler this way when I learned thatparents get divorced quite turbulently rolling a considerable "battle" for the child's favor and feelings. Naturally, the son began to be hyperactive, nervous, emotionally broken. "Scuffles" that took place at home in a very visible way translated into the relationship of the boy with his friends in kindergarten. After talking with Mom, at home they played in a situation where the toy family must part, because one no longer understands the other. A child also appeared in the situation (Mom introduced two children so that the child did not associate the situation directly). She was very surprised that the son almost quoted his parents' quarrels in the role play. She understood how much he is present in this whole situation. So she moved a bit into the shadows, "leading" her son through the whole toy breakup. She allowed her son to end quarrels between parents as his knowledge and emotions told him. At the end she directed him by asking him questions, thus telling the continuation of history. She gave the child a story about her feelings and fears. Playing mother all the time (and therefore herself), she assured the child about love, that this situation does not affect the feelings that both parents have for the children. And so on and so forth.

The game lasted a total of several hours, divided into 3 days. After this time, the child changed beyond recognition. It became calmer, softer. The boy no longer had problems with his own emotions. He understood. He accepted.

Theater as the gateway to imagination

The influence of theater on the development of our child's imagination is probably known to everyone. Thanks to the game, our kid can not only record fairy tales he knows, but also create a completely new world with the characters he invented.
There are several types of theater to choose from:

  • puppet, puppet - using their toys, creating space for them, i.e. a stage;
  • dramatic - using themselves, colleagues and family to play roles;
  • music, dance - creating and singing songs he invented, adding movement to them.

The first of these is the most common among children. So let's help the child create a stage with a curtain, actors, props. In one case, a blanket and two chairs are enough, in another a table from which the children will "play" with their puppets, in another, let's do the scene with the child. All you need is a cardboard box in which we cut a large hole.

To one side of the resulting upper strip attach a piece of fabric and the curtain is ready. Now you just have to earn some extra paper puppets attached on skewers to skewers and you can let your imagination run wild by creating numerous stories of uncommon content ...
Another very popular and liked, and the most spectacular way for parents to play theater is Teatr Ruchu, which means dancing and singing. We can then not only have a great time ourselves, admiring or even recording our Artist, but also develop his motor coordination, general body motility, sense of rhythm, the art of improvisation, balance, creativity and very beneficial to health - mobility. During dance and singing, the child's body produces endorphins, commonly known as the happiness hormone, and the child oxygenates better during exercise, activates the diaphragm muscle, stimulates connections between the hemispheres of the brain (one side is responsible for fantasy, imagination, the other for coordination, movement, balance).

We can "modify" our children a little bit of fun in theater of movement by introducing our own elements, e.g. aerobics or exercise. For children who need this type of gymnastics and / or it is recommended a great way of work / exercise through play. Mothers who have an ambitious plan to exercise at home can include a child in joint gymnastics. Then we have a securely occupied child and time for ourselves. We also spend time actively and more importantly with our little one or preschooler.
We can include a CD with exercises and music, but we can also invent steps ourselves or let the child show off. Such joint actions affect very much strengthening the bond between parents, and the child, show how important movement is (let me just mention that at this time 1/3 of school-age children are exempt from physical education classes!) at any age, and allow you to activate and detach the child from the computer or TV.

You can create your own disc with exercises recordings, come up with a unique "company" practice clothes, original hairstyles and create your own version of the instructional video. This is not only great fun, but also an excellent gift, e.g. for Christmas for grandmothers, aunts and uncles. Such an album will definitely mobilize the recipients to watch, and maybe even try to perform some of the evolution ...

Theater is everywhere

As you can see, the theater is like that a common and broad term, that we can talk about theater games at every turn. In the kitchen, while preparing a meal, we can have fun in Pascal and create culinary works of art (more or less virulent) with a funny accent. Nobody defends us from bathing to make a show like ice dance or makeup (especially recommended for children for whom bathing is a nasty duty).

Let us remember that every game in which we play a role or assume a specific character IS already a theater game. And let's remember the most important - there is NO bad role played or a fatal actor without predisposition or talent! We are all the best actors, if we only have a VIEWER and we want to tell him something ... After all, each of us is an actor, director and viewer of the Theater, Theater of Life.
