Let's start with a small experiment. Try to imagine a two-year-old who can read. Now think about what you think about teaching infant languages? Your answer will largely depend on how you perceive science itself: do you see it through the prism of compulsory and boring school activities, or rather an unlimited adventure while exploring the surrounding world? Before reading the guide, I would say one thing: teaching math and reading to an infant, or a few-year-old is a gross exaggeration that takes childhood away and makes the child unhappy. Today, I'm not so sure about that anymore ...

Although the vision of placing cards with words in a cradle and reading the words out loud on them seems surprising to me, after reading the guide I would be willing to convince myself to this way of stimulating the intellect of children. If someone around me would like to support my daughter's development in this way (e.g. Husband), I would probably agree. I would not have myself and I am not so convinced as to the effectiveness and legitimacy of the methods presented in the book to implement them. Still, I don't cross them out. There may be people who want to use them. The more so that the methods presented by the authors seem convincing and factual argumentation. However, you need to be able to arouse enthusiasm and show great commitment. I can not.

How to creatively support development?

Minge states that fun can be a science, that you do not have to approach it with a duty, a grimace on your face, but treat it as a form of spending time, during which the child has the advantage that he not only involuntarily learns, but above all uses with the full attention of their parents, spending time with the most beloved people in the world.

In this way, a two-year-old child can learn to read (using global reading), count, and explore the world by acquiring so-called encyclopedic knowledge. The authors provide interesting ways to play with the youngest children: babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. They dispel many doubts and refute myths that can be encountered when raising your own children. They sensitize to all threats that children face, especially the risk and its effects of watching TV for too long, affecting the child's stimulation.

The beginning of the guide is very interesting, the first chapters in which the authors explain how the development of children's senses. Here they pay attention to the specifics of developing the sense of balance (which needs rocking and wearing), the sense of sight (which in good conditions can develop much faster), smell (sensitizing to the effects of using too many odors, including perfumes, perfumed waters, etc.) , hearing (the relationship between what parents like and what children like - e.g. children will accept the kind of music their parents listen to) - or taste (informing that very babies do not actually feel the salty taste).

It teaches ...

There are too many guides that share the same content. Just read one so you don't have to reach for ten more. The more you read them, the more you have the impression that their authors have agreed to repeat the same and none of them will show more knowledge than their predecessor.

It is good that the book "How to creatively support the development of a child" contradicts this collusion of writing about the obvious and nothing to say. It contains a lot of valuable information, a lot of specific examples, informing how to support a child at various stages of development, referring to an interesting bibliography, sharing information on how to prepare learning materials or choosing the right toys. The guide "How to creatively support the development of a child?" Is one of those books that you will not forget. Once read, it is remembered, and if someone wants to additionally implement the entire program contained in it, they can get a valuable signpost for parents of children from birth until they reach the age of six.
